The three best exercises for the butt are squats, lunges and reverse lunges. For tone and slimming you should do many reps (5+ sets of 25+reps) on light to no weight. It should burn near the end of the first set and just before half way on each additional set. If it doesn’t burn by then you either need to increase the weight you are using or the number of reps. If you use weight, you can hold a bar bell across your shoulders or just hold dumb bells at your sides. Doing the lunges and reverse lunges with a step also better targets the glutes.
For upper back you should apply the same standards as above, but do pull downs, rowing machine, and flies (where you bend over so your upper body is parallel to the ground, hold dumbells in your hands and raise your arms to shoulder level like a butterfly’s wings flapping).
